Ongoing Journey - June 2025

Long time no see! I just got back from a 1.5 month business trip from Vietnam, went back to China for a week, and back in US now.

I don’t have my laptop while in Vietnam so I compiled all my thoughts, will dump them all here.

Thoughts

The famous saying of ‘you are the average of the 5 people you spent the most time with’, what if you are surrounded by <5 people?

People are just general terms for source of information, TikTok, NYT, Reddit, RED, I felt what you spent the most time on shapes you more than your friends, cause you get connected there.

The route back to dorm had no celluar so I scrolled through photos. The last horizontal photo I took was 4 years ago

There is a roasted corn vendor near the dorm that I walk by everyday, and 90% of the time they are bargaining with their customer. I wonder if a live bargaining feature would make internet more popular…

On a second thought, that’s for sure a no, things sold on internet often care about efficiencies, bargain disappears like dialets in languages.

Most of the time the first thing I get to hear when meeting someone is ‘you are so tall?!’, recently this got changed to ‘what happened to your head?!’

…I kinda like the latter, it allows me to tell a story instead of just saying thank you. Want to use that myself when meeting others, commenting on the action people did to their appreance instead of just how they look

Almost everyone at the office has some kind of 招财进宝 statue on their desk, I always wonder if thye’ve considered a better way of getting money - quit their job and work on something else…

TIL during meeting ‘assy’ in hardware is short for assmebly

Looking back, all things I think ‘permenant’ cycles every 3-6 month. I got a fever coming back to the US and just like 4 month ago, I wrote to myself ‘time to start work out again’.

My stomach felt a lot better after arriving at Vietnam, and one day I realized it’s because I ain’t drinking anymore protein powders.

Very simialr story: when I was little it took me & my parents 13 years to figure out my aesma came from dust & mite allergy

Note to myself to take sometime to do a full allergy test…

Arrving at Hangzhou Doc Gu was the person I resonated the most while back. He remember things in clarity, has a great sense of his surrendings and excellent memories of people he met.

He’s a blind massagist, 最近每当自己信息摄取太多的时候就想象自己是盲人,帮助挺大的

Julianna got engaged! So happy for her.

Ditto on above, the internet really smoothes out the difference between people, but no one are the same, and hence anexities. Seen & hearing stories from people distant from me helped, especailly from friends

Dad educated me about 彩礼 in China. Morals aside, I wonder how the exact amount was calculated? What/who contributed the most in the factors

A year living in the bay, Whole Foods turns out to have the cheapest single bottled water, 75 cents for 1.5 liters

Similar trend - the most expensive households never checks on parking, reminded of Maslow‘s theory on needs
